Türkiye's 35 GWh storage capacity accounts for grid-scale projects alone. Global energy storage investments have surpassed 150 GWh. Türkiye has already begun installations in Hungary, Bulgaria, and Spain, leveraging its geographic advantage close to Europe.
According to the 2024 renewable energy statistics published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Türkiye has reached a total installed power capacity of 11,697 MW by 2023 . In 2024, the total installed capacity of WPPs reached 13,000 MWe. Global wind energy installed capacity will increase by 143 GW in 2024.
Global energy storage investments have surpassed 150 GWh. Türkiye has already begun installations in Hungary, Bulgaria, and Spain, leveraging its geographic advantage close to Europe. Tokcan highlighted the importance of local expertise in manufacturing, system management, and maintenance to avoid dependency on foreign firms.
The plant, which belongs to Galata Wind Energy Company, is the 143rd largest power plant in Türkiye and the 6th largest in Balıkesir with an installed capacity of 105 MWe. 35 units of 3 MWe Vestas wind turbines were used in the WPP.
