In this work, we focused on developing controls and conducting demonstrations for AC-coupled PV-battery energy storage systems (BESS) in which PV and BESS are colocated and share a point of common coupling (PCC).
In this report, we explore the possibility of using the same method when applied to smaller distributed PV power plants (similar to the 430-kW plant at NREL's Flatirons Campus) that are exposed to faster output power ramps caused by moving clouds because of the smaller footprint of such plants compared to large utility-scale projects.
